With all its favorable properties, EPDM is an ideal exterior lining for roof gutters. It protects the gutter against moisture and other elements and thus extends the life of the gutter. In addition, the moisture- resistance quality of EPDM can be used to, for example, inhibit the condensation of galvanized roof gutters, which is generally created at night. This is especially important with valley gutters - the gutter between two sloping roofs - and with gutters that partly lie on a wall, boundary gutters. Completely lining the gutter with EPDM membrane inhibits condensation from entering the construction.
EPDM synthetic rubber membrane is airtight and watertight, and easy to detail. With our specialist contact adhesive and sealer, EPDM can be adhered to almost any surface, including roof gutters (PVC excluded).
The EPDM strips from a roll have a length of 20 meters, the width varies from 100 to 1400 mm. The most common sizes are available from stock. In addition, there are also prefabricated rainwater drains for a complete and watertight finish. With this, all types of roof gutters can be covered completely watertight very easily.
The abbreviation EPDM stands for Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer. EPDM has a high elasticity of up to 400% and it retains its elasticity within a wide temperature range, from -35° C to + 120° C. EPDM is also resistant to the effects of many bases, acids and salts (some petroleum products may cause damage to the material). EPDM is resistant to UV radiation and ozone. The material requires very little maintenance and has a long service life. Even under extreme (weather) conditions, EPDM will last for decades.
The versatility of EPDM make it an ideal option for the refurbishment of gutters . EPDM is permanently flexible, contains no plasticisers, is naturally UV-resistant and has a proven service life of more than 50 years! Because EPDM adheres to a range of surfaces, and it is easy to detail at complex angle changes. Another unique feature is that EPDM can be recycled, at the end of the buildings service life.
EPDM is the ecological alternative to sheet lead applications in cavity walls and around window frames. EPDM can also be produced with a flexible aluminium reinforcement, this product can easily be dressed into shape to replace lead chase flashings. Having no residual value it is an ideal replacement for lead in areas vulnerable to the likelihood of theft.
