Sustainable construction with EPDM membranes

Sustainable building is using recyclable, reusable and products with low carbon footprint. With sustainability as a key feature, EPDM can inspire building designs. When durability is demanded, EPDM roofing will cover the demands of the industry. The unique properties of EPDM make it the best choice in the roofing systems, especially when sustainability is an objective.

One of the unique properties that support this is EPDM`s UV and Ozone resistance. UV and Ozone attack is one of the determining factors in the deterioration of a roof covering. EPDM is naturally resistant to these influences. This makes EPDM the most sustainable solution for any flat roof with a service life of more than 50 years. HERTALAN® EPDM has a proven record of working toward a sustainable future.

Sustainability supported by certificates

HERTALAN® EPDM is certified by DUBO®keur and the European EPD (Environmental Product Declaration). The EPD certifies the product "Life Cycle Analysis" (LCA). All phases of the production process, as well as the raw materials used, are examined. The total environmental impact is determined based on this. With the DUBO®keur the approach is slightly different, here the "shadow price" is calculated. This price is established by calculating the costs per m2 of the recovery of the total environmental impact caused during the production process.
